Pia Silva recently published an excellent article on Forbes regarding company email newsletters, and how most of them simply suck. Despite the harshness of the article, she points out that email marketing STILL beats social media for ROI on customer outreach.
Companies make the mistake of bundling up a bunch of links, or about us case studies, and just fire it off to their entire list. Bottom line is no-one cares. It’s not providing value. You need to speak to your target audience in language that provides value to them.
After all, they subscribed to your email campaign for a reason — what was it again? — so keep your emails on target and relevant to their interest.
